The loose tubes (and filler rods) are stranded around a non-metallic central strength member (FRP) to form a compact cable core, with the interstices within the core filled with water-blocking gel. A polyethylene (PE) inner sheath is extruded over the cable core, followed by two layers of aramid yarn applied via contra-helical stranding for reinforcement; finally, a polyethylene (PE) outer sheath or a track-resistant (AT) outer sheath is extruded.
